Happy Halloween!

Here are the girls all ready for school. They raided the costume boxes in the garage to be something different (again). My kids have always loved the fact they can be different things for every single Halloween activity. Caleb was totally late for school today, so he didn't get any pics, but he's been the same costume for everything this year. The kids are with their dad this Halloween, so I don't get to do the trick-or-treating thing this year, but I handed out lots and lots of candy at work. (around 600 pieces in 3 hrs)

My hair looked pretty cool... especially since I have short hair. The updo turned out pretty cool. It was a thrown-together-last-minute costume, but you can't tell. That's the best part of having a large costume collection :)

Pumpkin Painting FHE & Crazy Hair Day

We painted pumpkins Monday night for family home evening. The kids carved pumpkins with their grandma on Saturday, so I figured we'd just paint the ones we picked. I love my ghost pumpkin. I also painted a mini pumpkin pink. I took mine to work to decorate up the box office. I figured I'd see them as much there as I would at home :)

Today at school was "Crazy Hair Day". Alyssa and Caleb decided it would be really crazy to only crazy up one side.

I've Been Booed

Autumntime Photo Shoot

Pumpkin Picking

Sunday at church my landlord stopped me and told me that he's harvesting pumpkins tomorrow and we could each go pick one today if we wanted :) So we went into my backyard and picked punkies. This is what my back yard looks like:
Alyssa's teacher asked for pumpkin donations for math and science projects this week, so this is the funky pumpkin Alyssa is taking.

Kid Time- Halloween Fun

Saturday was our Halloween Fun Kid Time. We had a great turn-out and everyone had a lot of fun.

Alyssa broke out in an allergy attack in the morning, right after I put her makeup on (once again to look like a hung witch). She started to puff up, so I gave her Benadryl. She fell asleep on the way to work and crashed in Ben's chair as soon as she walked in the door.

Oct. 24th- A Spooky Good Time

We had our little Halloween party on Friday night. The kids each invited two friends. We had pizza, chocolate cake, root beer and popcorn. We ate and then watched Mr. Boogedy. They all had a blast.
Alyssa's friends are as weird as she is. And yes, Alyssa is kissing a plastic rat. She calls it her boyfriend and sleeps with several of them in her bed. Craaazzzyy.

I always get anxious about having people we know from school over to the house I live in now. It seems that so many people at our school have a LOT of money and HUGE houses. I like my little house and as ghetto as it is, I'm soooo grateful for it, but still it's hard since we came from a bigger, nicer house. Anyways... I told myself that they're kids, they'll have a blast and won't even notice the house and if their parents do... who cares. So... Alyssa had a friend walk home with her and when I got home from work, Nina took me aside and said Alyssa's friend told them "I feel really bad for you guys." When Nina asked why, she looked around and said, "You guys live in a really small house." Nina told her that we like our house and we don't care if it's small. Her reply was, "I live in a big house." Hhhmmm. Then one of Caleb's friends made a comment about our small house. That combined with the fact that I've lived in my ward for a year now and sit by myself almost every week in Sunday School and Relief Society makes me think maybe leaving Utah wouldn't be completely horrible.

Camera Crazy

I had the camera out taking pictures of the food we were eating... hehehe. I'm addicted to food pictures... too bad I don't have a good camera to actually get good food pics, but anyways, I snapped a couple pics of us. Ken isn't as camera happy as I am :)

I look very crappy, but oh well... I still think they're fun pics.

Stupid Snake

I'm pretty sure this is the same sneaky snake I booted out a couple of days ago. Good thing Ken was here to save my life and catch him. Ken took him all the way across the street and chucked him in a field. If he comes back again I'll chop him up!!! Just kidding... that's yucky. But I did yell at the snake and tell him if he ever comes back I'll kill him :) Maybe he'll be scared and stay away.

In my preschool drama class I'm teaching the kids this song... Does anyone else remember it? My girls learned it in preschool, but I have the book which came out when I was little, so it's been around awhile but isn't sung often. What a fun little song :)

Here we are at the Covey Center employee Halloween party on Monday (that I hosted, of course). My children find joy in killing me...lol. These devil horns are awesome... Ken wore some too. They're barrettes. I got them at Big Lots for $1. They're super cool.

We also went and saw Thriller last week. Ken and I went on a date on Thursday night and the kids saw it Saturday afternoon. It's a really fun (and a little spooky) Halloween show. We all thought it was great. I'm glad I work at the Covey Center, because we would've never been able to afford the $25 for each ticket.

So, what's everyone gonna be this year??? Come on... I know you all have your costumes picked out ;)

Snake.... Yuck!

This creepy snake was the guy in my garage. I'm sure he'll be back to get me because he wasn't very happy after being trapped in a plastic box on the cold garage floor for a couple of days... and he didn't like being squished with cardboard as I tried to slide it under the container to get him out. I'm sure he didn't like flying through the air while I screamed because he start to wiggle out as soon as I stepped outside. The hard landing on the cooler probably wasn't the highlight of his day either. (It was creepy-cool to see him wrap around the cooler handle to get down.) I really don't think he appreciated me taking a stick and telling him to get out of here and never come back as I scooted him away from my house. I'm sure he'll be back... He'll probably bring friends too.... maybe I should just move :(

100th Post :)

Too bad I don't really have anything important to say on my 100th post...LOL. So I guess I'll just ramble incoherently. (Look at me using big words like incoherently. I'm just trying to look smart like Karalee and Ken.)

It's 12:30 am and I just got done slicing apples to put in my crockpot. I'm making apple butter. I haven't canned anything for like 8 years, so hopefully it turns out. I'm gonna do pears too if I have time tomorrow.

I passed a grandma yard sale today :( Grandma yard sales are the BEST. I almost stopped and then realized I had not a single dollar on me and it was in Orem so it's not like I could just swing by the house and go back. I called my mom and told her to go after work. She got awesome stuff for super cheap... I'm SOOO going tomorrow morning. I can't wait!!!

I still have my dumb sickness. Wish it would go away.

Tomorrow Ken and I are going to see Thriller at the Covey Center. I'm excited. I've never been. (To Thriller... obviously I've been to the Covey Center.)

There's a yucky snake in my garage. Good thing my kids were here to catch it in a container for me while I stood on a chair and directed them. he he he... Now Ken will have to come get it out and chuck it outside for me. At least we caught the icky thing before he came in the house.

Well... I guess I should get off to bed now since I gotta get the kids up for school in a few hours.

Family Home Evening

For FHE tonight we wrote letters to my brother, Brian, who is in boot camp & my grandma, who is very lonely. We also made Halloween invites for a little Halloween pizza party my kids are having with a couple of their friends. Then I had them read through a little play I wrote for my preschool drama class to see how long it is. It was a fun night. Although I almost cried when Caleb was writing his letters and asked if he could mark the phonograms. I sooo do not want to move. He informed me that the word Halloween contains two phonograms and rule # 17. I asked the kids what they would think if they went to a school that didn't teach Spalding. Alyssa said, "All that learning would go to waste." She was being silly, but it's so true. Nina said she'd never be able to do spelling with out Spaulding and Caleb was basically blank. He started Kindergarten at Renaissance, so although he knew how to read before Kindergarten, his only formal schooling has been with Spaulding. There are so many things I would miss about our school... Spaulding, spanish, music, art, all the programs, the people, the family involvement. It's so silly that such a little thing as watching my kids write could make me so sad.

Alyssa is about the biggest goof-ball you'll ever meet. Her letter to Brian went something like this: How's the food? I like food. Food is good for you. How's the weather? I like weather. Weather is good for you. How's the peoples? I like peoples. Peoples is good for you. How's school? Do you go to school? I don't really care. How's school? Love, your weird niece, Alyssa.

The funny thing is, she's a 110%, straight A, reading and spelling on a 6th grade level, every teacher's ultimate favorite of all times student. She's just a dork at home... LOL

We put them in a cellophane bag with a candy corn flavored Hershey's kiss to give to their friends. They had a lot of fun making these.
