Carson City Vacation

First let me tell ya'll about the time I went through to get here...

Thursday was my day to get all my last minute running around done. I had a whole list of things to do. First thing in the morning as I was up on 90th south in Sandy, my car broke down. I was stranded up there for a couple of hours until my very, very awesome friend Jennie came and rescued me. Robby, her equally awesome husband, took time away from work to come and tow my car. He got it fixed and I had it back that night, but I missed a day of work and half my errands didn't get done. I was so thankful it broke down BEFORE my trip across the no-where-lands of Nevada and Robby said it should be safe to take... sweet.

A little behind on things, $75 broker, but excited for the trip, I started off my Friday. I had switched to the morning shift so we could head out of town by 3pm. I had my car all loaded before work, and the kids had their assignments of last minute stuff to do before I got home. The kids got out of school around noon, so I thought we'd be good to go and getting into Carson which is eight hours away not too late.

So noon comes and goes and the kids never text me to say they're home. I call them around one and then two and nothing. They don't text, they don't call so I'm wondering what the heck??? As I'm leaving work soon after two I decided to call Matt to find out if he has seen the kids. Now let me say this... I had this whole texting conversation with Matt on Thursday, telling him we'd be out of town for the long weekend. He was working 48 hrs over Saturday and Sunday, so I didn't think it would be a big deal anyways. He blahhhed and cryed that I was horrible and how could I do this to him... he hasn't seen the kids forever (since Saturday) and he neeeeded to see them on Friday. I said sorry. We were heading out by 3pm. So anyways. Matt doesn't answer my call, but does reply to my text. It seems he likes to occasionally remind me how thankful I am to no longer be married to him. He decided I wasn't being fair, picked the kids up at school and took them out of town until 9pm. I called the cops. They said it was a civil matter and they couldn't do anything.

I almost just left them and headed out of town, but I decided he couldn't be trusted to actually take care of them over the weekend. So I cried all afternoon until they got home. Then I lost it and yelled at the kids. I know it wasn't really their fault, but they knew we were supposed to leave town. They didn't call or anything. I was so furious and we are now saving up $1000 to take Matt to court to get visitation and other things set into stone so this doesn't happen again. I slept for 3 hours and got up at 1am so we could head out of town. I drove all night and thank goodness didn't fall asleep and crash. Also, the cord I bought for my DVD player didn't work :( It was a long horrible couple of days.

Once we got to Carson, I slept for an hour. Not near long enough and we got dressed and headed to Lake Tahoe. It was beautiful and a lot of fun. I wish I wouldn't have been so tired and crappy-feeling and I would've had a lot more fun. The kids LOVED playing on the beach.

The first beach we went to was Zephyr Cove. It was rocky, but the kids had fun playing around and climbing on rocks.

This is us standing in two places at once :) We're in Nevada and California at the same time.

This is Sand Harbor beach. It was so gorgeous. It was just like being at the ocean. I took a ton of pictures and the kids could've stayed for hours. They had a blast swimming and playing in the waves. They dried off on the warm sand. We'll definately have to come back again... and next time with swimsuits and towels :)

Goings Ons

So... I've kinda been a slacker at posting on this blog. I figured I'd update everyone :) The kids love school and we're all getting into the swing of things again. I finished up my Thanksgiving Point job this week, and I'm very glad to be done. After this week I'll be back to my morning shift at my other job. It'll be nice to get home when the kids do, but I'll miss having my mornings to get things done. I'll be taking one day off a week to work on home and school projects. I'm gettin' into all the school responsibilities now. It makes me busy, but I enjoy it. I'm really liking posting on my other blog and enjoying the other homemakers I'm meeting. It's a lot of fun. I'm also in the process of planning out my Kid Time events through the end of the year, and an employee Halloween party at work... It'll be a vintage Halloween theme and I'm excited. (Yes, Hayley, if you're reading this, we expect you to come!) Ken has been in town a ton in the month of August, and the kids and I will be going to visit him this weekend. I'm crossing my fingers that my car will make it. It's the first time the kids will be meeting Ken's parents. We haven't told the kids we're going, we want to surprise them. I bought a new cord for my car DVD player, so we're all set :)

I'm off to bed now... ta ta for now!

I love chocolate!

I came home from a 12 hr shift yesterday, to a lovely gift from my wonderful friend Karalee... Chocolate, just what I needed! Thanks, Karalee! I love you!

What Your Taste in Chocolate Says About You

You are sophisticated, modern, and high class.
Your taste is refined, but you are not picky.
You are often the first to try something new.

You are down to earth and lovable.
A true friend, you're very tolerant and understanding.
In fact, your friends' biggest problem is that they don't like each other!

You love the feeling of accomplishment. You enjoy doing what's important.
You feel lost when you have to do frivolous tasks or hang out with shallow people.

Job Update

Ken interviewed for a really good job in Salt Lake. He made it to #2 on the their list. They are in the background check process now. They'll be hiring someone from the top 5 candidates.

Pray for us, please. This is a job we desperately need for Ken to move here. We're so excited and proud of him for making it this far. We need all the help we can get :)

1st day of school

School's back in!!! Here they are all ready for their first day.

Bag tagged... again :)

Here's my purse

Here's the contents

I was bag tagged by my cousin, Kassy. You know, I think the only reason I'd get bag tagged, after I've already exposed the contents of my purse once before is the train wreck effect... It's so horrible, but you have to slow down and look :)

I'm not gonna list it all this time, last time took me forever... lol. My day planner and my camera are missing from the picture.

I think if I ever get bag tagged again, I'll make an I Spy game out of it. Ha ha ha. That's what the pic reminds me of.

I'm tagging.... Stacy, Julie and Sabina... Let's see your bag and what you've got in it :)

Yard Sales, Snakes and my Crazy Day

I went to a really fun yard sale today... you can check out my treasures on my American Homemaker blog.

Kid Time at the Covey Center was crazy today. I booked a reptile show. The guy was supposed to do three 20 minute shows. Instead he did two 1 hour long shows, which totally threw things off and made us run late. On top of that, my volunteers didn't show up and I ran all the activities in the dance studios myself. It wasn't super busy, which was nice since I was by myself, but it was a very frustrating day!

Here's Nina with one of the snakes from the reptile show. They had a ton of gross creatures, including a 14 ft python that the kids got to pet... yuck! It was five years old and they had owned it since it was only 12" big... crazy. Nina kinda looks crappy in this pic, she wasn't tired... lol, she just washed a bunch of black "Egyptian" eyeliner off of her eyes.

Quiet Night

After two weeks of having eight people in our little house, it is extremely quiet now. Ken went home today with his kids, and my kids went to their dad's house until Sunday. It's very peaceful. I miss everyone, of course, but it is nice too :)

I stopped at Maceys today to do some grocery shopping after work and decided to attend one of their cooking classes. I used to go a lot, and have been wanting to go again for a while, so it was really nice. I got lots of yummy recipes to try.

Dino Museum

We took the kids to the dinosaur museum and the farm at Thanksgiving Point on Wednesday. They had a lot of fun. We even let them do fossil drilling, where they each got their own fossil to take home, and they got to drill on it to make it stand out, and add their name, etc. They thought it was pretty cool.

5K

before the race
the champion walkers :)
nina and her medal
the results... ken and tanner both had really good times :)

We did it!!! The whole family completed the school's 5K yesterday, and I am SORE... I'm also a wimp, I guess... lol. The kids did really well and we're so proud of them. Ken probably could've won it, but he jogged the first mile with Tanner. Tanner ran almost the whole way. Good Job for the them! Nina got third place in her age group (I think there were only three or four girls in that group... lol). It was a good experience for everyone... My favorite part was walking with my friends. I don't get a lot of chances to catch up with them, so it was great.

My Crazy Snake Dream

So... the other night I had this crazy bad dream about a snake. In my dream I was in my front yard with Caleb and a snake started chasing me. We started running and it jumped to bite me. I had boots on, so it just bit the boot and I kicked it. I thought it was dead, so I put it in one of those plastic shoebox things. Then I started taping it shut with clear packaging tape. I swear, this was the longest dream ever and I spent the entire night taping the box shut. The snake woke up and it was a rattlesnake. Every time I thought the box was taped enough, the lid would be loose or I'd see another hole where the snake was poking it's tail or it's head out and I'd have to keep taping. It was a very stressful sleep that night. So then in my dream, the box became big and there were puppies in it. I could see the snake going for the puppies, but I couldn't let them out because then the snake would get out in my bedroom, but I was frightened for the puppies. I woke up feeling like I hadn't slept all night.... Do you think it's time I stop reading Robby's Snake Adventures blog? LOL

Family Day

I took a day off of work today so we could have a family day. We went to This is the Place, the Hogle Zoo, swimming at the Legacy Center and ordered pizza for dinner. It was a really fun day and we all had a great time. Alyssa got allergies from the animals (of course), but was ok with benadryl and a wash down in the bathroom. It wasn't too hot today, which was nice. All the animals at the zoo were really active today, which was awesome. They were all playing and running around. You don't usually get to see that. The kids all get along well, which is nice. They have little spats like all brothers and sisters do, but overall, they're friends :)

Ken is home :)

Ken and his kids are here. The house is crowded and messy and crazy... but it's really nice to have everyone here. The kids all get along great, and it's weird, but whenever Ken gets home, it feels like he never left. I made Caleb snap some pics of Ken and I... I try to get a couple pic every time he comes home. I also had the kids get some pics of me in my adorable dress to post on my American Homemaker blog on Feminine Friday. Have a fabulous Sunday!!!
